The only real difference is that they're hot enough and/or rich enough to get away with some absolutely bizarre coping mechanisms. You try handing a bag of your own teeth to some guy you just met and see what happens. 

Or just get famous yourself and hire some soothsayer to jet you off someplace where they cover your face in mud and cucumber slices while you deal with whatever's got you creaky. And then that person embezzles like five million from you, which angers you so much that you forget about the phobia in the first place. Problem solved! But then you're broke and you develop a new phobia about being broke which motivates you to go on QVC. Good night.
